Pediatric Staff

At Pediatric Professional Associates, our team consists of experienced, compassionate pediatricians and friendly, nurturing staff members who take pride in giving our young patients the personalized pediatric care that they deserve.

We understand that you have a choice of pediatricians in the Wayne and Newfoundland areas, and we appreciate your consideration. We can assure you that you'll feel confident in our ability to meet all of your expectations.

All of our pediatricians are highly educated professionals who have undergone rigorous academic and clinical training in pediatrics. We maintain a high level of expertise through continuing education in order to provide the most up-to-date care for the young patients we are privileged to serve.

The Nursing staff is comprised of licensed registered nurses and licensed practical nurses.  The practice operates an on-site laboratory conveniently located  within the Wayne office, which is licensed and fully compliant with all state and federal standards, laws and regulations.  The laboratory supervisor is a highly trained Certified Medical Laboratory Technologist.

Our Pediatricians:

James Mahon, MD, F.A.A.P.,

Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Muhlenberg College with a B.S. in Biology. Dr. Mahon received his medical degree from NJ Medical School.  Dr. Mahon  completed his pediatric residency at  North Shore University Hospital-Cornell University School of Medicine, Great Neck, NY and was Chief Resident of Pediatrics at North Shore. Dr. Mahon is a Board Certified Pediatrician with active staff priviledges at Chilton Memorial Hospital. 

Geraldine Inese Silkalns-Nelson, MD,

Graduated from Adelphi College and received her medical degree from New York Medical College. Dr. Nelson completed a rotating internship and residency at  Cedars-Sinai Hospital with a rotation to UCLA and L.A. Children's Hospital. Subsequently, Dr. Nelson completed a 3-year post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric nephrology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in NY and then joined UMDNJ in Newark as an assistant professor in pediatrics and pediatric nephrology. Dr. Nelson started the PNP (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) program jointly with Seton Hall University. Dr. Nelson is a member of American Association of University Physicians. Dr. Nelson was the former medical director of the Wayne schools. Dr. Nelson has active staff privileges at Chilton Memorial Hospital.
